We
follow the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental
Association's recommendations to see children around their first birthday.
As a service to our patients, we offer a COMPLIMENTARY well-baby checkup to
infants up to 18 months of age.
During the first visit, we will examine your baby's
teeth checking for decay and proper eruption. We also will check all
the tissues in your infant's
oral cavity as well as
screening your baby's dental growth and jaw development. Our highly
trained staff will go over oral hygiene care, infant safety, healthy
nutrition for early years, discuss oral habits and answer every concern you
have.
This appointment is a special visit and gives your baby
the right start for years of positive dental care. Our goal is to
support your child through the years to develop a lifetime of strong healthy
teeth and gums with a beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime.
To promote preventive dentistry in
children, we offer presentations for parents. If you belong to a
parent group such as pals or mother of twins that would benefit from
information on teething, dental development, proper nutrition and infant
safety, please contact our office so we can schedule time with you.
You
can make your child's first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive.
Your child should be informed of the visit and told that the dentist and his
staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. The less to-do
concerning the visit, the better.
It is best if you refrain from using words around your
child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as needle, pull, drill or
hurt. The office makes a practice of using words that convey the same
message, but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends
having your child seen on or before age one. As a service to our
patients, we offer a complimentary well-baby checkup to infants up to 18
months of age.
We invite you to stay with your child during the
initial examination. During future appointments, we suggest you allow your
child to accompany our staff through the dental experience. We can usually
establish a closer rapport with your child when you are not present. Our
purpose is to gain your child's confidence and overcome apprehension.
However, if you choose, you may come with your child to the treatment area.
For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being
treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.
Once you have called our office and scheduled your
child's first appointment, we will send you a New Patient Packet including a
Medical History Form. Please complete the form and bring it with you
to the appointment.
The
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a check-up every six
months to prevent cavities and other diseases. We also monitor your
child's dental growth and development at each of these visits. For
these visits, we suggest you allow your child to accompany our well trained
staff member into the treatment area. We can usually establish a
closer rapport with your child when you are not present. Our purpose
is to gain your child's confidence and overcome apprehension. At the
conclusion of the visit, we welcome you back for any questions and to inform
you of your child's dental progress.
We strive to make each and every visit to
our office a fun one!
